A Green Recipe for your January Blues

Serving up :  Fridays & Saturdays January 13,14,20,21 @ 7:30pm, matinees on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday January 15 and 22 at 2:00pm

Presentation by: The Wellesley Players
At: The Mosesian Theater in the Arsenal Center for the Arts, Watertown, MA.

All of the ingredients for a delicious Family Theater experience are mixed into this gem of a musical; SHREK the Musical. Start with the brilliant recipe by Directors Julia Fiske and Shawn Gelzleichter and fold in an all star cast of Greater Boston’s sauciest. Blend in a cracker jack Production Team and garnish with ornate costumes and lighting. Whip them into an acclaimed presentation at the beautiful state of the art Mosesian Theater and you’re cookin’! This promises to be a sensory feast bar none.

With music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Good People) this ‘once upon a time’ mythical musical tells the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Unexpectedly, a gang of spicy, homeless fairy tale characters (Pinnochio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs) raid his sanctuary saying they’ve been evicted by the zesty Lord Farquaad. So Shrek and Farquaad strike a deal.

Buy your tickets to find out what it includes! Clue: there is a pretty princess involved; equal parts appealing, unique and strange.

Other musicals that remind us of Shrek the Musical include a pinch of Seussical, a dash of Wicked, a taste of Mathilda, a speck of Avenue Q, a trace of Mary Poppins and a hint of Into the Woods. It is a clever, heart warming, feisty, enchanting, creative, energetic mixture of sheer ambrosia topped with outrageous choreography. Relevant themes of today marinate throughout: there IS beauty in our differences. Do not miss this midwinter caramelized nutty night. And as you savor the experience, you will depart with the sweetest palette. Make your reservations now for the luscious SHREK the Musical @ www.wellesleyplayers.org.
