Show Description: Love’s Labour’s Lost – Shakespeare’s story of love gone awry will explore gender and class politics in the U.S. during the late 1960s. We’ll set our stage against the backdrop of the women’s liberation movement, the sexual revolution and the counter culture, and take a close look at some of the original nasty women (and the men who loved them). Sex, drugs and rock-n-roll – this is not your parents’ Shakespeare.

Available Roles: all roles are available for casting. Actors must be at least 18 years old to audition. Many roles can be cross-cast and we are particularly interested in multi-cultural casting. Some minor roles will be combined with others to form larger supporting roles.
The women of France: Princess, Rosaline, Katharine, Maria
The men of Navarre: King Ferdinand, Berowne, Longaville, Dumain
The supporting cast: Boyet, Costard, Jaquenetta, Armado, Moth

To Prepare: Each auditioner can either prepare a classic monologue (Shakespeare or contemporary) to perform, or participate in a cold reading from the script. This is each actors’ choice. Those performing a memorized monologue may also be asked to read with a scene partner. Callbacks will consists of scene work as well as improvisation.
