Season Announcement and Year End Honors for Player Members

The Wellesley Players, coming off a successful season last year, are already in rehearsal preparing for the upcoming season.

Our season starts with A…My Name is Alice: A Musical Revue

A…My Name is Alice is a musical revue conceived by Joan Micklin Silver and Julianne Boyd. Each song is its own vignette, rich and sophisticated enough to tell a whole story. The cast members, diverse in age and background, take on a variety of roles to tell stories about their circumstances and their relationships with intelligence, sensitivity and humor.

The show will be directed by Celia Couture, with Music Direction by Art Finstein and Dance Captain Kelly Murphy.

Performance Dates:  November 7-9 and 14-16 at the Black Box Theatre
Arsenal Center for the Arts.

Coming this spring, two classic stories of love

My Fair Lady
Book and Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and Music by Federick Loewe
Adapted from George Bernard Shaw’s Play Pygmalion

Directed by Celia Couture
Music Direction by Art Finstein
Choreography by Kelly Murphy

Artistic Director, Celia Couture intends to take this classic Broadway musical based on Pygmalion and reinvent the production for today’s audiences. By stripping the show to its core, with minimalistic sets, the use of projections and an intimate cast, that will play multiple roles, along with a street tough Eliza and a most egotistical Henry Higgins, Celia hopes the power, brilliance and humor of Shaw’s original play brings new life to this classic and timely piece of theater.  The show will be performed with a two piano arrangement scored by the original writers.  This version brings new relevance and brightness to the score and provides more on-stage time for performers.

Performance Dates: April 10-12 and 17-19, 2015
Mosesian Theatre at the Arsenal Center for the Arts

Love Letters
by A.R. Gurney
Directed by Valerie von Rosenvinge
Love Letters  was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play centers on two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. The actors sit side by side at tables and read the notes, letters and cards – in which over nearly 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.
Performance Dates:  May 16 & 17, 2015
Wellesley College Club
